Job Description

The IT Director provides strategic leadership, vision, and oversight for all technology systems and initiatives across the organization. This role is responsible for managing the organization’s IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, software systems, and technical support while aligning technology solutions with programmatic and operational goals. The IT Director works cross-functionally to ensure that technology supports and advances the mission of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Develop and implement an organization-wide IT strategy aligned with the mission and goals.
• Identify opportunities for technology to enhance program delivery, operational efficiency, and stakeholder engagement.
• Advise senior leadership on emerging technology trends and risks.

IT Infrastructure & Operations

• Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of IT systems including networks, servers, cloud services, and communications platforms.
• Ensure system reliability, performance, and scalability to meet organizational needs.
• Manage inventory of hardware, software, and licensing.

Cybersecurity & Risk Management

• Develop and enforce cybersecurity policies and protocols.
• Ensure data security, backup, and recovery systems are in place.
• Monitor compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR, etc.).

Systems & Software Management

• Evaluate, implement, and support business applications such as CRM, ERP, donor management, and collaboration tools.
• Ensure data integrity and streamline workflows through technology integration.
• Lead IT-related projects including system upgrades, migrations, and deployments.

Technical Support & Training

• Provide or oversee help desk support for staff across multiple sites or remote settings.
• Coordinate technology onboarding for new employees and ongoing tech training.
• Foster a culture of digital literacy and responsible tech use across the organization.

Team & Vendor Management

• Lead and mentor internal IT staff or contractors.
• Manage relationships with external vendors, consultants, and managed service providers.
• Develop and manage the IT department budget.

Qualifications Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 7+ years of progressive experience in IT, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Experience managing IT in a non-profit, education, or mission-driven environment.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft 365, Google Workspace), CRM systems, and cybersecurity best practices.
• Strong project management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
