Job Description

The Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the overall appearance and safety of campus grounds. Duties include lawn care, landscaping, debris removal, and seasonal maintenance. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, safety-conscious, and has experience operating commercial grounds equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Mow, edge, and trim lawns using various landscaping equipment including zero-turn mowers (must-have experience)

• Perform trimming, pruning, and edging of bushes, shrubs, and trees

• Clear walkways and grounds of debris, litter, and leaves

• Conduct seasonal tasks including snow removal, salting, leaf raking, and mulching

• Operate blowers, trimmers, hedge clippers, and other power tools safely

• Assist with minor outdoor repairs and maintenance as needed

• Monitor grounds for hazards and report issues promptly

• Follow all safety procedures and company guidelines

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

• Must have hands-on experience operating a zero-turn mower

• Must have experience with trimming (string trimmer/weed eater)

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions

• Basic understanding of landscaping tools and equipment maintenance

• Dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or as part of a team

• Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening (if required by the college)

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1+ year of experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or property maintenance

• Familiarity with seasonal grounds duties (e.g., snow and ice management)
